On the last day of a super-boring provincial election campaign, we get this. I'm excited enough, I'm actually going to give some commentary:
If she ever wanted leadership of the Tories, she would have gone, at most, independent. So either she believes the Liberals are truly the best party to be running the country or she thinks she has a serious shot at party leader. Let's assume for a moment that her goal is power; it seems unthinkable to those outside the Tories that her and Peter would be unable to win her the Conservative leadership, so either she's more skeptical about her ability to win than I am, or she thinks the Tories will never form the government, even with her in charge. But if she's doing this for conscience, then either she is as obsessed with getting stuff done as Jack, or she came to the decision that Stephen's Tories are evil.
Regardless of her reason, I think this gutsy
, white-knight move puts her as close to Liberal leader as any other potential candidate, especially as Paul failed to deliver on expectations of a Tory-busting lean to the Right. Or maybe all she ever wanted to be was a cabinet minister? It's very curious.
