- Kill Bill
- Most epic movie, like, ever.
- Monster
- I think criminal rights is a rising issue, and this film (more because it's popular than because it's profound, but whatever) could be a significant reference in that debate, so it may be the most important film of the decade.
- The Corporation
- There's some half-hour section in the middle about journalism politics or something that should be ripped straight out, but besides that this manages to nail mtv-style while being structured like a powerpoint presentation.
- The Fog of War
- The deepest film of the year, which is saying an awful lot for a documentary.
- Dogville
- Chalk rules: if you disagree, go watch The House of Flying Daggers or something.
- Kinsey
- Nearly perfect biopic — should be part of film school curricula.
- I ♥ Huckabees
- I suspect I had exactly the right level of ignorance of existentialism to appreciate this and therefore I don't blame everyone else for hating it.
- Collateral
- Best use of digital out of Hollywood ever; shame about the ending, though.
- The Village
- It is a fact that this is Shyamalan's second-best film, so if you liked those two crappy ones, you're obliged to like this.
- Garden State
- Not groundbreaking, but very likeable.
And the film I most regret having missed: Mean Girls
