Long-time readers will now that I am generally concerned with the scientific literacy of journalists. Ryley alerted me to this article which, in my interpretation, explains how The Man uses this illiteracy and the desire of editors to be fair&balanced to manipulate scientific reporting. One could conclude, therefore, that good science reporting not only requires journalists to be literate, but also their editors, which is a lot to hope for the way things stand now.
