The Ontario Government hired Richard Florida (author of The Creative Class) and his team to do a creativity analysis of Ontario cities, the report throws in the rest of Canada for comparison sake. One of the most positive results, as far as I'm concerned, is that BC cities' Tech-Pole rankings are significantly below their Bohemian and Mosaic (multiculturalism) rankings: this suggests that BC's tech industry should be growing to meet parity. (The report only uses Bachelor's degrees per capita for the value of the Talent Index, which depresses the ranking of BC due to the large retired population; Google tells me of numerous studies in the last five years showing very high educational attainment rates for young residents.) On the negative side, it is alarming how many educated people the federal government sucks into Ottawa — it seems to me that this suggests an alternative argument for small government than the ones usually used by the Right.
