Many analysts seem to be comfortable with the theory that ex-President Hussein was the only person in the world who actually believed Iraq had WMDs, but I refuse to believe that he could have held power as long as he did with such poor internal intelligence. Although some have made a connection between the film The Mouse That Roared and North Korea's humanitarian aid blackmail, Google tells me no one has even entertained the idea with regards to Iraq. So let me be the first to spell it out: Hussein implied that they had WMDs because the US blocked the possibility of sanction lifting as a result of UN inspections. The only hope to free the Iraqi people from poverty was to become a vassal state of the American Empire.
