According to Slashdot, it's somewhat of a frequent occurrence for journalists at large poker tournaments to go gonzo. Harper's had such an article for the 2000 World Series of Poker. (Where they play No-Limit Hold'Em — a variant I recommend learning at a lake-side cabin with Alex and lots of beer.) This tournament is particularly interesting to me for another reason: the winner has a PhD in CompSci — finally I know what to do after graduation!
