AlterNet has figured out that it's not that Old Europe has forgotten their debt to the US for WWII, it's precisely that they remember it all too well. They still remember and approve of the philosophy behind the current World Order while Gov. Bush seeks a New one.

(If you've never taken the time to read the Air Force's Alternate Futures for 2025 it really generalises the sides well: al Quada wants Gulliver's Travails (well, until they win), Bush wants Pax Americana, and Old Europe wants Hooverville (and I want Digital Cacophany, of course).)
