I hated first-year economics because it was theoretical without being elegant and appeared to consist entirely of drawing supply & demand graphs. This was really disappointing because I took it in first-year as a potential major mistaking it for Political Science or something. So I really like it when I run across a timely popular economics article that actually includes cool graphs and once I've slagged through the whole thing (in two sittings) I feel like I'm better briefed than Gov. Bush. And I also ran across the related opinion of the CAW on our foreign aid spending — which also includes a cool graph.
