I'm sure I'm not the only one who's had this idea in mind since Firefly was but a glimmer in Patti Maes' eye, but it's nice to see that someone has finally implemented it: Ticia sent me a press release from a Spanish company called Polyphonic HMI who have developed AI software that can recommend music based on song patterns. They also make the much more grandioso claim that their software can analyse the tastes of a population to estimate market performance. This is entirely possible, however I am unable to find any studies, patents, or even developers' names online.
